My Loveable Roommates...

Hello! Today I’m gonna tell you about my roommates for this semester. I stayed at UiTM hostel named Mutiara. My room number is M114 and for this semester I got the same roommates from the last semester. There is no senior in my room and there are 4 persons in the room including me.

My first roommate is Nur Zulaika bt Zainal Abidin which we called her “Kechik”. This is due to her small body size and she is quite short too. “Kechik” is my classmate too and we always go to the class together. She is born in Kuala Selangor on 17/9/1990 and she will be a 20 year-old-girl this year. Right now, she is residing with her parents and her 3 siblings and she is the eldest. She is a very talkative and funny girl and always succeeds to make all of us to laugh. She is also a smart girl. Just for your information, she got 3.87 in the 1st semester and 3.84 in the 2nd semester and I’m confident that she will get DL again for this semester. During last semester, she had a fond towards scary movies and she has a lot of ghost movies and this semester, she seemed to love “dangdut” very much that she will sing it every time. Examples of her favourite songs are “Angkat Kaki”, “Yang Sedang Sedang Saja” and “Memori Daun Pisang”. She loves spicy food, for example “Nasi Goreng Kampung” and anything that spicy. She is a daughter of a Direct Officer in Kuala Selangor and her mother is a housewife. “Kechik” loves shopping so much and every time we take a tour to Segamat, there must be something that she will buy. She also has a fond towards pink and 99.9% of her stuff is in pink colour. Other than that, she also has a fear towards frog. There’s one day when we showed her a frog toy, she frightened so much that she almost cried. Poor her….hehehhee

My second roommate is Arifah bt Abd. Rahaman. She will become 19 this year and born at Kg Baru, Kuala Lumpur on 8/8/1991. She is a part 2 student of Diploma in Accountancy. She is an intelligent girl and she got 3.47 for last semester. The reason why I said she is intelligent is because she still got 3 pointers and above even though she plays all the time. She is a funny and hilarious person and loves to play stupid games which will make us laughing non-stop. She also loves bullying me and “Kechik” very much even though she is younger than us. That doesn’t mean that she is a bad person, but very caring and understanding instead. She is a Kelantan’s but now she is residing at Keramat, KL with her family. She has 6 siblings and she’s the 4th. Ifa has a special boyfriend which really looks like Irwansyah and we always tease her for having such a handsome boyfriend. I love to see them together because they really suit each other and I hope they will last forever.

My third roommate is Erma Zuhaira bt Omar. She is also a 19 year-old-girl and born at Kg Melayu, Johor Bahru on 24/4/1991. She is also a part 2 student of Diploma in Accountancy, just like Arifah and they is classmate too, just like me and “Kechik”. Unlike “Kechik”, she really hates spicy food cannot tolerate with anything spicy. Erma is just as smart as others too and she got 3.61 for her CGPA last semester. She is a kind and pious girl compared to all of us. She always gives us advice about Islam and tells us to pray when we didn’t do it. Other than that, Erma is also a beautiful girl and she has a very fair skin. She has many secret admirers but she just ignores them because she said she want to focus on study only. This semester, she already has someone she likes and keeps it secret from us, but unfortunately we knew it all along. Sorry Erma, hehheehe….

That's all about my roommates and I'm having a great time with them. I hope that we will always together and loving each other like we are now.

This Semester's Subject...

What’s up all! This is my 3rd semester in Uitm Segamat and it’s a tough one compared to those past 2 semesters. This is because we are going to take 7 subjects; they are BEL 311, BMD 101, QMT 216, CTU 241, ECO 211, FIN 262, and HKR 113.

Firstly, BEL 311 which stands for English for Academic Purposes is a compulsory subject for part 1 until part 3 students and what more, it’s a pre-requisite one. So be careful everyone! The assessments for this subject are: 30% for written assignment, 20% for speaking test, 10% for attendance and 40% for final examination. Believe it or not, we got the same lecturer when we were in part 2. At first I was speechless but after some time, I re-thought that every cloud has a silver lining. My BEL 311 lecturer is absolutely a very strict person, everyone knows about it, but despite that he is a great man. All I can say about this subject is “whatever it is, you have to do your best Nabila, or else you’ll fail!” haha! This subject gives us a great impact on the cgpa as it holds 3 credit hours. BEL 311 is my 2nd favorite subject after BMD 101. This is due to my interest to learn more languages in my life and my target for this subject is to do my best and I hope that one day, I will be able to speak fluently just like my lecturer.

Second subject which is BMD 101 stands for Mandarin Language. It is such an interesting subject, err well maybe for those who has never learned it before like me. We are so grateful to be in this Mandarin class rather than Arabic and have Mr. Lim Yoon Chong as our lecturer. He is a very kind and funny person and he always able to make his students laugh. My first impression on this subject is, I always thought that Mandarin is quite tough but after start learning it, I found that learning Mandarin is very easy and it will happen naturally. For this subject, we will not have the final examination but we do have oral, listening and writing test. This subject is totally my favorite as I love learning languages and literature. Although it holds only 2 credit hours and won’t affect the cgpa that much, yet I will do my best. Just like BEL 311, I also hope that I can speak fluently in Mandarin just like “laoshi” one day.

My third subject which is QMT 216 which stands for Introduction to Statistics holds 3 credit hours and it is conducted by PM Ruhana Zainudin. Ermm, there’s nothing weird about her to be noticed and I can say that she is a quite pious woman. Just for your information, during the 2 hours of statistics lecture, she can spend 1½ hours just to tell us some religious talks. How sweet….and for this semester, I really feel like I actually take 2 classes of CTU rather than statistics. Haha! But I don’t think that as something bad because I am a normal human too and I do make mistakes, so it’s great that she is there to guide us. It’s like killing two birds with one stone. The assessments for this subject are: 10% for test 1, 10% for test 2, 10% for quizzes, 10% for assignment and 60% for the final examination. My impression for this subject is, I feel this subject is quite tough and yes, it really is! Huh… My target for this subject is to get an A of course and try to be a good muslimah and achieve al-falah. Lalala…

Fourthly, my next subject is CTU 241 which stands for Fundamental for Islamic Economics is conducted by our lecturer, Siti Aishah bt Sokhibul Fadil which we call her as Ustazah Siti. She is really cute and happy-go-lucky person and talkative too, so we didn’t feel so bored during the class. For the assessment for this subject are: 15% for test, 15% for assignment, 10% for presentation and 60% for the final examination. Even though this subject cannot be considered as a tough subject, I really didn’t understand why I never got an A during my past 2 semesters here. So for this semester I really hope that I can get my A for the first time. Poor me…. This subject is quite complicated for me, so I didn’t really favor it but whatever it is, I do hope I will get flying colours in this subject. Even though it only worth 2 credit hours which won’t help much with the pointer but still, I will do my best.

Fifthly, this is what I called “killer” subject; it is FIN 262 which stands for Fundamentals of Finance. Our lecturer for this subject is Mdm. NorSaliza. She is still new as a lecturer but she is good and able to manage our class beautifully. I am happy to have her as our lecturer due to her kindness. All I can say about this subject is, it really is a tough one. So do we have any other choice than to study hard? Well, we all have to if we intend to further our studies until part 4 and above. The assessments for this subject are: 10% for test 1, 10% for test 2, 10% for quizzes and 10% for assignment and 60% for final examination. Why I called this as the killer subject is because it is so hard, yet it holds 4 credit hours which will affect our pointer, thus we have to do our best! Ganbatte neh!!

The other subject that I feel like a burden to me is ECO 211 which stands for Macroeconomics. The person in-charge for this subject is Miss Diyana bt Isahak which is also a new lecturer in Uitm Segamat. She is a kelantanese, so prepare yourself as you will always hear the kelantanese dialect when she speaks. As a new lecturer, I can say that she really adapts well and I am confident that one day she will become a good lecturer. ECO 211 holds 3 credit hours which is also a pre-requisite subject and it is the continuation of ECO 162 which were taken when we were in part 2. Good for us, nobody failed in ECO 162 so we can further our ECO 211 without any disturbances. The assessments for this subject are: 10% for test 1, 10% for test2, 10% for quizzes, 10% for assignment and 60% for final examination. If you asked whether this is my favourite subject, it’s absolutely a no! Hmm…. I don’t know why because I really love ECO 162 but maybe not for ECO 211. Anyhow, I just hope that I can success so that I can get DL for this semester.

Last but not least, as part 3 students we still have our co-curriculum. My co-curriculum subject for this semester is HKR 113 which stands for Mosque Management. This subject is only worth 1 credit hour and will not affect our cgpa that much but still, I want to give my best. My first impression for this subject is, it is an easy task and I will get an A for sure but my thoughts are so wrong! When I re-thought about this, it is like I am taking 3 classes of CTU for this semester. So I hope by the end of this semester, I can be a good muslimah like I said for my QMT 216 subject.

To put it in a nutshell, I really hope that I will get excellent result in all subjects so that I can make my parents proud.

Something About Me...

Hello all…My name is Nur Nabila Izzaty bt Baktiar but my friends just call me ‘Nabil’ because they said it is easier that way. I was born on 21st October 1991 at Sultanah Fatimah General Hospital which is now known as Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah. This year I will become a 19 year-old-girl and I am currently studying at Uitm Segamat taking diploma in banking.

I have 4 siblings and I am the eldest. I have 2 younger brothers and 1 younger sister. At home, they will address me ‘kakak’ as a sign of respect. I live at my hometown which is located in Muar with my big family which consists of my father, my mother, my siblings, my cousins and my grandmother. We live together since we were born and sometimes my aunties and my uncles will visit their hometown which is my house too.

My father’s name is Baktiar and my mother’s name is Wan Fuziah. My father is a caring and responsible person while my mother is the loveliest person I have ever met in my life. Well, maybe I said that because I love them with all my heart. Another thing is that, the fact that my mother is a bit taller than my father is something I need not to be shamed off and maybe that is also the reason why my father is always ‘murah rezeki’. My father is a businessman while my mother is a housewife. After graduate, I would love to help my father to widen his business in the contract field.

During leisure time, I will go out with my friends and enjoy our happy time. Usually when we were together, we will spent a lot of our money to the ‘unseen’ things like going to the karaoke center, eating fast food and buy the small things like hair clips and scarf. While with my family, we will travel to interesting places during the holiday to enjoy quality time together. If there is nothing more, the last thing I will do is watching movies or sleeping.

I start my kindergarten at year 5 at the Joy Kindergarten. Then, I went to S.K. Convent Muar for 5 years only because I am one of those PTS students which mean I can skip my Standard 4 subjects and just go through into my Standard 5 life. I transfer to S.M.K.A. Maahad Muar for 3 years due to my parents’ desires and again, I changed my school to Sultan Abu Bakar Girl School for 2 years and I find that during my school time, I used to spend many years at the girl school. Lucky for me that Uitm do not differentiate its students by the gender.

To put in a nutshell, I am absolutely happy knowing that my life is complete with my family and friends besides me . I will do anything to make it any better and enjoy my life to the fullest.
